Our Mission
The Rafiki Collaborative promotes holistic health and well-being among underserved people and communities in Kenya.

How We Engage
The name “Rafiki” is Swahili for ‘friend’. Rafiki Collaborative members bring different and complementary knowledge, perspectives and skills to the work we do. Members share a common vision of promoting resiliency through collaborative and participatory problem solving, capacity building, and social justice advocacy.

To celebrate and respect the cultural values of the people and communities with which we work and to pave the way for sustainable community change, Rafiki Collaborative members work in active collaboration with Kenya-based individuals, groups, organizations, and institutions.

Our History
The Rafiki Collaborative was founded in 2006 in order to create synergistic collaborations between individuals in Chicago and organizations and institutions in Kenya to address holistic health and well-being among underserved people and communities in Kenya.   The central focus of the Rafiki Collaborative is to work collaboratively with individuals, communities, and organizations in Kenya to build their capacity to provide compassionate and holistic education, care and services
Current Priorities
Focal areas of the Rafiki Collaborative efforts include:

  1. The provision of sexual and reproductive health-related promotion products (HPPs) to underserved populations
  2. The delivery of sexual and reproductive health-related training to enrich the knowledge base and skills of underserved people and communities
  3. The development of advocacy efforts which support the human rights of underserved people and communities
